A Neighbourhood Finds its Identity
While the sense of community was strong amongst those living and working in the Cambie corridor, it didn’t translate into a sense of place for others to visit. The Business Improvement Association (BIA) wanted to attract more consumers to their neighbourhood and hoped a stronger identity would help. We connected with local retailers, strolled the streets, and visited the shops. We were inspired by the district’s vibrancy, diversity and history, most notably the Art Deco architecture of buildings like City Hall and the Park Theatre. Working through this inspiration, we proposed a more lively identity and brand that better represented the energy the area is known for. The Cambie corridor is now marked by bright banners, and the fun, fresh look extends online and into all the marketing material the BIA produces.
